Basic Handgun +LTC

Our Basic Handgun plus LTC course is designed to provide an introduction to firearms and the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship followed by completing the LTC qual separate from the class. We will cover everything you need to know about the fundamentals of firearms, including basic handgun safety and operation. Our experienced instructors will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to be a safe and responsible gun owner.

Students will need to take the online Texas LTC course prior to this class and bring their LTC-101 or 104 form with them. 

 

What to expect: 

Intro to firearms safety and handling. 

Loading and unloading.

Ammunition selection.

Fundamentals of pistol marksmanship.

How to safely clear malfunctions.

What you will need:

Eye and ear protection.

Personal handgun, or contact us for loaners.

100 rounds of ammunition.

1-2 magazines.

Range and weather appropriate clothing. 

Defensive Handgun Applications

Defensive handgun applications focuses on developing the skills and mindset necessary to use a handgun for self defense.  

This is not a basic class and students must have an understanding of basic firearms handling and safety. All class time is conducted on the range, so be sure to check the weather for proper clothing, bug spray etc. 

Blocks of instruction include but are not limited to:

Use of deadly force and the force continuum.

Mindset.

Human anatomy and shot placement.

Establishing your shooting platform.

Proper grip and grip pressures for aggressive shooting.

Trigger manipulation for aggressive shooting.

Developing a fast, efficient draw and presentation.

Target focus.

Recoil management.

Developing a shooting cadence.

 Reloads.

How to clear multiple malfunction types.

One handed draw and shooting.

Shooting from retention.

Dry fire practice and how to develop your skills on your own.  

Class duration is five hours.

What you need:

Center fire handgun.

300 rounds of reliable ammunition

( I recommend 2Awarehouse.com for affordable, reliable training ammo.)

Eye and ear protection.

Sturdy belt.

Inside the waistband or outside the waistband holster that completely covers the trigger guard.

(NO SERPA HOLSTERS OR SOFT SIDED HOLSTERS!)

2-3 Magazines.

Clothing you would wear any normal day while concealed carrying ( weather appropriate).

Close toed shoes.
